Doris Marie (Burnett) Gilliam, 73, passed from this life at her home in Centerpoint, Oklahoma on July 10, 2019. She was born October 8, 1945 in Achille, Oklahoma to Reuben and Dollie May (Wells) Burnett.
Doris married her late husband, Roy Lester Gilliam on October 12, 1963 in Denver City, Texas. She was a member of the Farris Church of Christ. Doris enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. For over forty years, she was constantly looking forward to her family reunions, then "sisters only" weekends. Doris loved to travel so her daughter and family once took her to Graceland, to combine her love of travel with her love for Elvis Presley. The last trip Doris took was on a cruise with her sister, Judy and cousin, Linda, as well as several of her nieces. Her two grandsons, AJ and Ethan, were her pride and joy and she would travel anywhere she could to watch them play ball. Doris also enjoyed gardening and fishing.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Roy Lester Gilliam; her parents: Reuben and Dollie May (Wells) Burnett; daughter: Tammie Sue Gilliam; brothers: Kenneth Burnett and wife Martha, and Don Burnett; sisters: Jewel McWilliams and husband Charles Doss, Christine Ervin and husband Gene, Wanda Durham, Irene Smith, and Velma Bishop and husband Harold.
Doris is survived by her son: Craig Gilliam of the home; daughter: Ginger Denise Gilliam Clay and husband Russell Clay of Centerpoint, Oklahoma; grandsons: Ethan and AJ Clay; brothers: Edward Burnett of Texarkana, Texas, Carl Ray Burnett and wife Doris of Keller, Texas, Gary Burnett and wife Carrol of Raleigh, North Carolina, Reuben Dural Burnett and wife Loretta of Winsboro, Texas, and Phillip Burnett and wife Susan of Lindale, Texas; sisters: Cynthia Ivanoski and husband David of Victoria, Texas, Judy Henningsen and husband Mike of Rapid City, South Dakota, Theressa Harper and husband Gerald of Moyers, Oklahoma; sisters in law: Pat Burnett of Eastland, Texas, Sharon Burnett of Brownwood, Texas, and Vera Gilliam of Columbus Mississippi; brothers in law: Robert Durham of Seagraves, Texas, Vester Smith of Loop, Texas, and Pat Gilliam of Rogersville, Tennessee; and aunt: Ruthie Spoon of Elk City, Oklahoma; special friends: Bonnie Phillips and Renee Wilson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Doris will be held at 2PM, Sunday, July 14, 2019 at the Farris Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Darwin Cemetery. Family night will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019, from 5-7PM at Serenity Funeral Service in Antlers.
