Janice Owens-Hedrick Obituary
Janice Owens-Hedrick, 92 years of age, passed from this life peacefully at her home in Antlers, Oklahoma on November 10, 2018. Janice was born August 26, 1926 to G.H. and Panola (Harvey) Satterfield in Darwin, Oklahoma.
Janice married Raymond "Hootie"Owens April 14, 1945 in Antlers, Oklahoma. They remained married till his death in 1988. She later married Jack Hedrick March 6, 1993. As Janice was growing up between her brothers she always said she felt like she was on KP duty. She grew up loving to cook for everyone as she never met a stranger. Janice also loved her flowers and gardening, along with watching football, especially OU. She loved watching her Westerns, Family Feud and Let's make A Deal. Janice and her husbands were instrumental in founding the Darwin Fire Department as they always saw a need to help others. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family and dear friends.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents G.H. and Panola Satterfield; her husbands: Raymond and Jack; daughter: Wyvon Owens Griffin; sister: Opal Dillingham; brothers: G.A. "Buck" Satterfield, C.B. Satterfield, Audalee Satterfield, Waylon Satterfield and Kenneth Satterfield.
She is survived by her daughter: Mary "Corky" and her husband Danny Mathis of Grant, Oklahoma; son-in-law: Wes Griffin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brother: Billy Joe Satterfield of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren: Rocky and Karin Mathis of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Shawda and Eddie Butler of Idabel, Oklahoma, Raymond Mathis of Coweta, Oklahoma, Donovan and Derzula Griffin of Spring, Texas and Perry Griffin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren: Justin and Torri Mathis, Sgt. Jordan Mathis, Maygan Butler, Miles and Ashlin Butler, Kennedy Mathis, Weslie Griffin, Benjamin Griffin, Caydence Griffin, Milly Rose Butler and Peyton Butler; the Satterfield nieces and nephews, the Owens nieces and nephews, the Hedrick nieces and nephews, the Haddox nieces and nephews and the Harvey nieces and nephews; special friends: Abbie McCarty, Sue Wade and Jan Smith; along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Janice will be held 2 PM Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Serenity Funeral Service in Antlers, Oklahoma with Lonnie Satterfield officiating. Pallbearers will include: Rocky Mathis, Donovan Griffin, Raymond Mathis, Perry Griffin, Justin Mathis and Miles Butler. Honorary pallbearers will be: Danny Mathis, Wes Griffin, Eddie Butler, Sgt. Jordan Mathis (currently serving with the U.S. Marine Corps), Jarvis Nabors and Jimmy Dillinger.
Family night will be 6-7 PM Tuesday at Serenity Funeral Service.
