Martha Sue Tucker, 80, passed from this life peacefully at her home in Finley, Oklahoma June 30, 2018. She was born January 28, 1938 to Harve and Essie (Pitt) Ryan in the family's log cabin at Haworth, Oklahoma.
Martha had married Fred Tucker October 4, 1958 in Haworth, Oklahoma. Together they had four children: Freda, Martin, Jon and Kathy. She earned her Master's Degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Martha had taught for the Antlers Public School System from 1971-1998. She enjoyed quilting, cooking for her family and friends, playing a variety of card games, working crossword puzzles and reading. Martha is known for writing the Finley Community column in the Antlers American and being a big part of the Finley Nutrition Center. Most of all she enjoyed teaching and helping others.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Harve and Essie (Pitt) Ryan; her husband: Fred Tucker; two brothers: Reland and Jimmy Ryan; three sisters: Ruth Stidham, Rosemary Thomas and Rachel Stephens.
Martha is survived by her children: Freda and husband Ray House of Finley, Oklahoma, Martin and wife Patty Tucker of Durant, Oklahoma, Jon and wife Tonya Tucker of Finley, Oklahoma, Kathy and husband Eric Wallace of Finley, Oklahoma; four sisters: Junella Keeney of Melissa, Texas, Judith Carson of Durant, Oklahoma and Cindy Rhoden of Durant, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren: Ty House, Chelsea Dill, Samantha Snow, J.B. Tucker, Matt Tucker, Brittney Kitchel, Ryan Hopson, Jenna Beltran, Macy Smith and Michelle Smith; 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday July 3, 2018 at the Church of Christ in Finley. Burial will follow at Finley Cemetery. Dean Cave and Brent Franks will be officiating. Pallbearers will include: Ty House, Chance Snow, Marcus Dill, Wallace Kitchel, J.B. Tucker, Matt Tucker, Jesse Beltran and Jesse Hopson. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Helm, Ed Wallace, Robert Rodenberger, Buck McAdams, Mike Wallace and Jason Keeney.
Family night will be held Monday from 5-7 PM at the Antlers Church of Christ.
