Orval Lemuel Lewis of Jumbo, Oklahoma passed away March 5, 2019 in McKinney, Texas,
where he had lived for the last 2 1/2 years. He was 90 years old.
Orval was born September 4, 1928 to William Lewis and Mary (Seals) Lewis in Jumbo,
Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea, surveying in front of artillery.
Orval married Dorothy Catherene Rember on October 2, 1954. They moved to Jumbo, where
they soon built a home where they lived for over 60 years together.
Orval worked at a feed store in Antlers, and at the stockyards in both Antlers and McAlester. He
raised cows and had a remarkable memory for their calf weights and when they were born. Orval
wrote his own backwards phone directory, sorted by number. He also kept his Jumbo cemetery
book updated.
Orval is survived by his wife, Catherene Lewis, who lives in McKinney, Texas; two sons:
Wayne (and wife Sue) of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Benny (and wife Julia) of McKinney,
Texas. Orval has a grandson, Martin (Marty) Lewis (and wife Jennifer) of Copperas Cove,
Texas, and three great grandchildren: Martin Jr., Joshua, and Hunter. Orval is also survived by
one sister, Lillie Bell Jordan (and husband Leonard) of Wichita, Kansas, and one brother,
William Lewis (and wife Sara) of Andover, Kansas, along with several nieces, nephews, and
their descendents.
Orval was preceded in death by his parents; by his sisters Minnie Henderson, Pearl Shropshire,
and Martha Lewis; and by his brother George Lewis.
Services will be 2 PM Monday March 11, 2019 at the McGee Valley Baptist Church. Interment will be at the Jumbo Cemetery. There will be a lunch at the church starting at 1230 PM prior to the service.
