Alice Marie Brown was born January 5, 1937 in Apple, Oklahoma, to Clarence and Ruby (Wilkerson) Watts. She passed from this life on October 26, 2024, in Hugo, at the age of 87.
Marie, as she was more commonly referred to, spent her childhood in Rattan and attended Rattan High School. Marie was known for her strong work ethic. She spent most of her adult years working in the food industry as a waitress and went on to own and operate her own restaurant as well as a donut shop. Marie lived and worked in five different states but always considered Oklahoma her home. In her later years, Marie was a caregiver. She cared for several different people and enjoyed sitting with them and treasured those friendships.
Marie was preceded in death by two of her sons, who she buried just this year: Carl Edward Hendricks and David Lee Hendricks. Those also passing before her include her parents, Clarence and Ruby Watts, and six of her siblings and their spouses, Imogene, Bill, Lester, Hack, Dee, and Lee.
Marie is survived by one son, Michael Lynn Hendricks and wife DeeAnn of Coleman, OK; one sister, Darlene and husband Billy Foster of Rattan; two daughters in law, Pam Hendricks and April Hendricks of Rattan, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 11AM in the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel with Jonathan McDaniel and Robert Lewis officiating.
