Benny Tuck Obituary

Benny Doyle Tuck passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 12, 2023, in Moore, Oklahoma. Benny was born on April 7, 1941, in Ringold, Oklahoma. He was the oldest child born to Coy and Lucy (Martin) Tuck. Benny attended Burwell School through the 8th grade, being promoted from 2nd to 4th grade, skipping the 3rd grade. He transferred to Rattan Public Schools for high school. Benny had polio during his sophomore year which left him with a limp. He graduated high school in May 1958. He attended Eastern Oklahoma College at Wilburton.
Besides his family, his guitar and music were his greatest love. He taught himself to play guitar. He played in the Red River Ramblers Band for a number of years. The band played on the radio station in Hugo, Oklahoma. They also performed at dances and other events. To our knowledge, he was the last living member of the band. He could play several instruments, but he loved guitars the most. He and his son, Jon, repaired guitars and even made a few. He had quite a collection of guitars.
Benny had many jobs. Among them, he worked in the timber woods in California with his dad, drove a school bus, was a substitute teacher, worked for Pushmataha County before starting to work for Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT). After retiring from ODOT, he spent his retirement years studying Biblical history and working sudoku puzzles. He loved watching and feeding the bluebirds in the back yard. He was known, at times, to feed the stray cats. He trained his cats to touch his chin for treats and food. One of his cats has outlived him.
Benny had brain surgery at the end of January 2017. He was never able to return home as he developed dementia/Alzheimers and spent his remaining years in a nursing facility. He had a love of M & M's. We must have brought thousands of M & M's throughout his nursing center days.
Benny married Tommie Marie Cousins on September 28, 1962. They made their home in Sobol, Rattan, and Antlers until moving to Oklahoma City. They were married 59 years and 3 months.
Survivors are his wife Tommie, son Jon Alan Tuck and Carla Grenvall, of Melissa, Texas; daughter Doletta Sue Tuck Richmond, a daddy's girl, Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, his pride and joy: Joseph Quinton Tuck, Norman, Oklahoma; Lauren Elizabeth Tuck, Norman, Oklahoma; Rachelle Joy Marie Richmond, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Benjamin Lee Richmond, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. One sister, Bonnie Sue Tuck Thomasson, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Two aunts: Dorothy Martin, Ringold, Oklahoma and Sarah Tuck Schwing, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and others.
Preceded in death by his parents Coy and Lucy Tuck, brother Tommy Louis Tuck. Grandparents: Albert and Della Martin and Clurn and Ollie Tuck.
