Betty Hamilton Obituary

Betty Lou Hamilton, 95, passed from this life on May 22, 2026, in Antlers, Oklahoma. She was born December 17, 1930, in Weleetka, Oklahoma, to Gerome Johnson and Leola (Thomason) Johnson.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Antlers, as well as a TOPS Club of Antlers member for many years. In her earlier years, Betty worked at Doctor's Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma as a scrub technician, in the obstetrics department. She even delivered a baby once before the doctor arrived. After retirement Betty moved to Antlers, where she made her home with her daughter, Linda, and son-in-law, Junior. Later in life, she moved to the Choctaw Nation Nursing Home, and she lived there for nine years. Betty truly delighted in the art of crocheting and was very good at it. She never used a pattern and gave away many items to family and friends. She once won a blue ribbon at the Pushmataha County Fair for a sweater she crocheted without a pattern. Betty also enjoyed going to garage sales and thrift stores, and she was known for her delicious jalapeno jelly. Above all else, Betty loved spending time with her family.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents: Gerome and Leola Johnson; daughter: Susan Garlick and her son-in-law: Junior Peters.

She is survived by her daughters: Lenda Peters of Antlers, Oklahoma and Mona Maupin of Wister, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Eric Peters of Antlers, Oklahoma, Darren Peters of Ada, Oklahoma, Amy Maupin of Wister, Oklahoma, William Maupin of Wister, Oklahoma and Richard Maupin of Denver, Colorado; twelve great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family members.
