Billie Jean Owen Obituary

Billie Jean Owen passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, at the age of 90 in Hugo, Oklahoma. Born on August 3, 1934, in Boswell, Oklahoma, to Curtis and Alta Monroe, Billie's life was defined by her unwavering faith and devotion to her loved ones.

Billie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. As a long-time member of the Church of God in Hugo, her faith was her guiding light, steering her love for cooking, shopping, and attending gospel singings. These interests were more than hobbies; they were expressions of her love and generosity, always serving or celebrating others.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in her daughter: Vicki Lynn Gallagher; her sister: Linda McDaniel and husband Billy McDaniel; sister-in-law: Billie "Sisty" Monroe; her grandson: Mark Hammons; and great-grandchildren: Evan and Patrick Hammons, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Billie reunites with her dear departed parents: Curtis and Alta Monroe; her husband: Travis Owen; son-in-law: Mike Gallagher; and brothers: Dale and Ronnie Monroe. Her life was a testament to the joys of giving and the strength of kinship.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 2PM at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel with Charles Green and David Monroe officiating. Honorary pallbearers include: Josh Tedder, Kevin Monroe, David Monroe, Evan Hammons, Patrick Hammons, Mike Monroe, and Mark Hammons.
