David Arnold Murray, Sr. Obituary

David Arnold Murray Sr., 79, passed away on April 24, 2026, in Jacksboro, Texas.
David was born on February 7, 1947, in Bay City, Texas. He proudly served his country in the
United States Air Force for four years and was a Vietnam veteran.

Following his military service, David built a remarkable career as a carpenter, dedicating 33
years to his craft. His work helped shape communities across Northern California. Among his
most notable projects were the library at UC Davis, Granite Bay High School, Hell Hole Dam,
and the water treatment facility in Folsom, California. Beyond these accomplishments, his
greatest pride came from building homes for his family, including their home in Loomis,
California, and his final home in Nashoba, Oklahoma. Even in retirement, David continued to
serve his community as Chairman of the Board for the local water district in the Nashoba area.
David was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Murray, with whom he shared
over 50 years of marriage. He was a loving father to his sons, David Murray II (Sparks, NV),
William Murray (Tampa, FL), and Anthony Murray (Boise, ID), and his daughter, Holly Murray
(Denver, CO).

He was a proud grandfather to David Murray III, Kyle Murray, Kendra Murray, Abby Murray,
William Murray, Justin Murray, Dillon Murray, Kasie Murray, Kelcy Murray, Juniper Murray,
and Lucianna Murray.

David was a true family man and the hardest-working man his family ever knew. He instilled in
his children and grandchildren the values of hard work, resilience, faith, and taking care of those
you love. Faith was always part of his life; his father was a preacher, and that foundation stayed
with him. Later in life, he proudly obtained his own preacher’s license so he could officiate the
wedding of his granddaughter, Abby, a moment that meant the world to him and to all who
witnessed it.

Some of the most cherished memories were made during family hunting trips in the hills of
Northern California, where generations gathered together. Around the campfire, stories were
shared while the cousins explored the mountains. He also loved fishing trips to Shelter Cove
along the Northern California coast and countless off-road adventures in the Jeep he bought in
1974, creating memories that will live on for generations.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. May 23, 2026 at Yanush Assembly of God, 14088 SE
Hwy 2, Tuskahoma, Oklahoma, with a meal to follow the service.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he
leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.” – Psalm 23:1–3

While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved wife
and family. Dad, you did great. Give Mom and James a big hug and kiss for us, we’ve got it from
here.
