Dewey Austin Hatcher, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away in his hometown of Antlers, OK, on August 3, 2023. Born on August 17, 1933, Dewey was full life, filled with laughter, jokes, and a deep love for his family and community.
Dewey was well-known in Antlers not only for his quick wit, but also for his work as a diligent dozer operator and the proud owner of his radiator shop. His dedication to his work was only surpassed by his commitment to his family and friends. He was always ready with a helping hand, a funny joke, or a word of encouragement.
He is survived by his devoted children: Dewey John Hatcher and wife Patti, Vicky Day and husband Ronny, Debbie Gregston and husband Wallace, and Diana Shipman and husband Mark. Dewey also leaves behind his loving brothers: Carl and Billy Hatcher; sisters: Mary Lee White and Norma Jo Gaston; grandchildren: Ronnell, Jarod, Mark, Lindsey, Chelsey, Levi, Shyla, and Memree will fondly remember their grandfather.
Dewey's legacy continues in his great-grandchildren: Preslea, Lara, Charlea, Addisen, Aidyn, Noah, Allie, Logan, Brea, and Harley. Each of them will carry forward his love for life, his sense of humor, and his undying spirit. In addition to his immediate family, Dewey is also survived by numerous other family members and a host of friends who will miss him dearly.
Dewey was preceded in death by his wife: Lois Hatcher; his parents: John and Oma Hatcher; son: Steve Hatcher; granddaughter: Katy Shipman.
An avid outdoorsman, Dewey found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing and hunting, often sharing his passion with his family and friends. Dewey's love for the outdoors was only matched by his love for his family, and he often combined the two, creating cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
Memorial services for Dewey Austin Hatcher will be held 10 AM Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel in Antlers, Oklahoma.
