Donald Wayne House Obituary

Donald Wayne House passed from this life on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the age of 75.
He was born May 4, 1947, in Houston, Texas to Cleve and Mavis (Goins) House.

Donald was a Vietnam Veteran, serving with the United States Army, 196 th Army Light Infantry
Brigade. He also served with the 25 th Infantry Division. After his combat tour, he worked in Army
Intelligence and served in Korea. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service
Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Rifleman's Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze
Service Star, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Donald married Michelle (Antwine) House on Dec. 10, 1966, shortly before beginning his tour of
duty in Vietnam. The couple settled in Antlers and raised two sons. Donald also worked as a police officer, public works director, ambulance driver, and park ranger with Beavers Bend State Park. He retired from the Antlers Volunteer Fire Department, was a 32 nd Degree York Rite Mason and member of the Antlers Jaycees, and ran his own security agency. He was also a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

Donald enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, making people laugh and spending time with
his family.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Cleve and Mavis; three brothers: Cleve House Jr., Billy House and Bobby House; and one sister, Lynn Kay Schuesler.

Donald is survived by his wife, Michelle, of the home; two sons: Bradley and Eric, both of Antlers; a granddaughter, Lauren House, also of Antlers; brother Kenneth House and wife Sandra, of
Whitesboro; sisters Becky Rushing, of Sulphur, La., Susie Schelsteder, and husband Jimmy, of
Montgomery, Texas, and Janet Moren, and husband Doug, of New Caney, Texas, as well as
numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Don was a hard worker, taking his first job in his uncle's gas station while still in junior high school.
He served his country honorably, and courageously, deploying to Vietnam at 19 years of age. Don
was also a man of great courage and generosity; a "man's man" who served his family and
community with a strong sense of duty, and his tough exterior was balanced with a kind manner,
intelligence, and humor. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will continue through the example he set for his family as well as the friends he touched with his humor, strength, and ability to put others at ease.

Memorial services were held on June 17, 2023 at OddFellows Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army.

Services are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Service in Antlers, Oklahoma.
