Donna Sherry Brown-Sanders went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 30th, 2025, in Antlers, Oklahoma, leaving behind a legacy of love, education, and community service. Born on November 10th, 1950, in Paris, Texas, Donna would become a beacon of kindness and wisdom in Pushmataha County, where she devoted her life to the betterment of others.
She was a guiding light, not just to her cherished family, but to the many students she served as a proud educator and guidance counselor at Antlers Public School. Donna's dedication to education did not wane until her well-earned retirement in 2008, marking the end of a career that shaped the future of countless young minds.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents: Jack and Ann Clay; her beloved husband: Jerry Brown with whom she shared a joyous marriage beginning on December 21, 1968; and their beloved daughter: Tamee Ann Brown.
She leaves behind her husband: Jim Sanders of the home; sons: Donnie Brown and his wife, Paula, and Wade Brown and his wife, Nikki; grandchildren: Tyler, Tayler, Tanner, Tristan, and Hannah Brown; great-grandchildren: Bentley, McKinlee, Owen, Josie, Tylee, and Olivia Brown; brother: Howard Clay; and a multitude of other relatives and friends who will forever hold Donna's memory in their hearts.
Donna found joy in the simplicity of life. Her hands, skilled and gentle, brought beauty to the world through sewing, and quilting. She enjoyed time spent gardening in the yard, and had quite the green thumb. Fishing hooks cast beside loved ones became cherished family memories, but above all else Donna loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
As we say goodbye to Donna, we celebrate the resilient, loving, and spirited woman she was. Her legacy, like the gardens she tended with such care, will continue to flourish and remind us of the impact one life can have on many.
Celebration of life will be held at 1PM Saturday February 1, 2025 at the Hall Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Wes Haddox officiating.
Honorary pallbearers include: Monte Martin, Al House, Larry House and Billy Latham.
Services are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Service in Antlers, Oklahoma.
