Donna Duncan Obituary

Donna Raye (Rember) Duncan was born July 21, 1959 to Kenneth and Marjorie Rember in Portsmouth, Virginia. She passed from this earthly world February 13, 2023 in Paris, Texas.

Growing up, Donna was a Navy brat as she followed her daddy up and down the east coast, on to Kansas, then Texas before going home to settle in Antlers after his retirement from the Navy. It was there that Donna met John Clarence Duncan and fell madly in love. The couple married young and were just able to celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary on January 27th.

Donna and John chose to make their home in Antlers, and together, ran a successful beauty salon. Donna so enjoyed getting to see and visit with their numerous clients that became family friends over the years. While she was quite capable of styling hair, she preferred to do nails and colors, handle the receptionist work and generally try to keep John in line and on time which was another full time job!

In December of 1983, Donna and John welcomed a beautiful baby girl they named Devin Raishele. She became their whole world and was often treated as the princess she thought herself to be. As Devin grew up, her and Donna were very close and continued to be best friends, Speaking on the phone daily, Donna was the ever-present mom we should all be so lucky to have. Their weekly "mom nights" were often a highlight of both their weeks when Donna would come stay the night and sometimes the weekend at Devin's home.

In 2014, Devin and her husband, Jason, finally gave Donna a grandbaby, and her world was absolutely complete. She thought Sadie Railynn was the most wonderful thing and soon she became Donna's favorite person. They shared a very special bond, and both loved one another immensely. Donna was a wonderful Gran'ma and Sadie is certainly a lucky little girl to have been loved so much!

Donna truly enjoyed watching television and before the days of DVR, would record her soaps daily on VHS tapes to be watched later! She was very crafty and could make something special out of nothing. Her and Devin spent many hours together on various projects over the years and she passed her talents on to her daughter. She enjoyed reading and playing games on her phone. Donna loved a wide variety of music and was always thrilled to attend a live concert. Her and John had the opportunity to see many artists from Tina Turner to Alice Cooper to Kenny Chesney, her tastes spanned many genres.

Donna was a lifelong animal lover and had many pets throughout the years. Her home wasn't a home without a dog, and she spent countless hours cuddling some pooch in her arms while watching tv. She had a very special little cockatiel bird named Sidney that she raised from a tiny featherless baby and taught to speak several phrases and whistle many songs.

Donna was a kind, compassionate person that cared deeply for her family and friends. "Stubborn as a mule" as her mother would say, brave, strong, and such a fighter. Even as her health declined, she always made sure her family knew how much she loved them. She was the heart and soul of her family, and the world is a little darker without her in it.

Donna leaves behind to cherish her memory: her husband, John Duncan, daughter, Devin Raines and son in law, Jason, and precious granddaughter, Sadie; her mother, Marjorie Rember; sister, Deborah Faubion and husband Jon, and niece Morgan of Chickasha; brother, Ken Rember, Jr. and wife Lexi of Antlers along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Donna is preceded in death by her dear daddy, Kenneth Rember; maternal grandparents, Stella and Monroe Nored and paternal grandparents, Ollie and Bernie Rember, as well as her special grandpups, Lilly and Gracie.
