Eugene Wayman Obituary

Elza Eugene Wayman passed from this life on February 14, 2024, at the age of 52, in his hometown of Antlers, Oklahoma. Born on March 8, 1971, in Antlers,Oklahoma, Eugene's life reflected a deep connection to family and the natural world he so loved.

Eugene was a man known for his selfless nature and dedication to his family. He leaves behind his fiancée: Jaime Harp of the home; his children: Lee Wayman, and his wife Taylor of Antlers, Oklahoma and Joseph Wayman, and his wife Katelyn of Antlers, Oklahoma; step-children: Michael Harp and his wife Caitlyn of Jacksboro, Texas, and Kassidy Rymel and her husband Lige Pettyjohn of Antlers, Oklahoma; brother Scotty Wayman of Atoka, Oklahoma; sister: Schrea Wayman; beloved grandchildren: Jake Wayman, Maelee Wayman, Cooper Wayman, Kealee Wayman, Blake Wayman, and Alexandria "Pepper" Pettyjohn; as well as numerous other family members; and a host of friends.

Eugene was born to the late Elza Lee and Maudie Lee (Rudder) Wayman, who preceded him in death. His life's journey brought him to roads seldom traveled. As a truck driver, Eugene spent most of his life in the log woods, where his passion for the outdoors was not just a pastime but a vocation.

His friends and family will remember Eugene as a man who treasured quiet moments in the woods and the exhilaration of riding around the mountains. Above all else, Eugene loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

The world is a little quieter and the woods a little emptier without Eugene's presence. His memory will, however, live on in the legacy of his children and grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers include: Alan Reich, Dawn Wilhite, Michael Harp, Clayton Boling, Jimmy Saylor, Alan "Bear" Sutton, David Evans, Allen Whitehead, Craig Ayers, Chris Ayers, Koty Austin, and Chase Austin.

Family night will be held 4-6 PM Saturday February 17, 2024 at Serenity Funeral Service.

A celebration of life for Eugene will be held 2:30 PM Sunday February 18, 2024 at the Antlers Church of Christ.
