Jimmie "Jim" Dewight Allen, Sr., age 80, a lifelong Atoka, OK resident, was born on August 30, 1943 to Leo and Eula Allen. Jim passed away in Atoka on January 7, 2024.
He graduated from Atoka High School and served in the Oklahoma National Guard. Jim was the manager of Wood Brother's Department Store in downtown Atoka and then retired from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections as the Business Manager at McLeod Correctional Center. He was an avid University of Oklahoma Sooner fan and was rarely seen without his OU hat. He enjoyed gardening and crappie fishing at Atoka and McGee Creek Lakes.
Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patsy Allen of Atoka, OK; son, Jimmie Allen, Jr., wife Rhonda and granddaughter, Emma of Atoka, OK; daughter, Deana Griffith and husband Danny of Niceville, FL; siblings, Sue Hart and husband Carrel of Tulsa, OK, Carol Jean Baker and husband Ed of Moore, OK; nieces and nephews, Joe Ann Wilson and husband Dwayne of Tushka, OK; Pam Keeler and husband Dale of Tushka OK; Ray Allen and wife Judy of Atoka, OK; Sherri Jezek Aary and Tony Hart of Tulsa, OK; Debbie McCreight of Moore OK; Kim Wyrick and husband Clay of Atoka, OK, Anthony Wilson of Tushka, OK, along with other relatives and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Eula Allen; siblings, Ruth Lee Hairrel and husband Joe; Mildred Allen; Leo Allen, Jr. and wife Wanda; Edward "Dean" Allen; Wallace "Cotton" Allen and wife Sue Ann; nephews Troy Lee Allen, Jimmy Dean Allen, Sr., and Michael Wilson.
Celebration of life for Jim will be held 2 PM Saturday January 13, 2024 at the Atoka Community Center in Atoka, Oklahoma with Duard Justus officiating.
Services are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Service and Cremations in Antlers, Oklahoma.
