Joe Tom Powell, 92, was born to John E. and Pearl (McCoy) Powell on January 31, 1929 in Belzoni, Oklahoma. He passed from this life in Moore, Oklahoma on March 14, 2021.
Joe was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served honorably in WWII. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing music, watching westerns, and being on his iPad. Joe was a fun-loving man of Baptist faith who loved telling jokes and making people laugh.
He is preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children: Lorene Powell; second wife Linda Powell; parents: John and Pearl Powell; daughter: JoRene Goff; and brothers: Solomon Powell, J.D. Powell, Goman Powell, and Alec Powell.
Joe is survived by his children: Linda Baggett of Moore, OK, Goman Powell of Moore, OK, Paula Simon and husband Don of Shawnee, OK, and Kathy and Monty Sharp of Burkburnett, TX; grandchildren: Durell Willoughby and wife Trudy, Monica Trammell and husband John, Jason Baggett, Jamie Martin and husband Joey, Kellie Stubblefield and husband Keenan, and Joseph Stewart; and great-grandchildren: Karlee, Kate, Jakob, Joshua, Tristen, Raylie, Allie, and Davie.
Services for Joe will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 2PM at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Pete Green and Pastor Tim Green officiating. Interment to follow at Dela Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Keenan Stubblefield, Jason Baggett, Joseph Stewart, Jakob Martin, Joey Martin, and Tristen Baggett. Honorary Pallbearers include: Nyles Duncan, Johnny Powell, Howard Boyett, and Don Simon.
