Joe Robert Sawyer, 59, passed from this life on June 27, 2021 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was born to Orville Lee Penick and Dora Jane (Sawyer) Penick on August 15, 1961.
Joe made his living on the road as a truck driver, but he cherished his time spent at home with his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, gardening, and going to swap meets.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents: Orville and Jane Penick; and grandparents: William and Myrtle Sawyer.
He is survived by the love of his life: Michelle of the home; children: Chris Rose of Van Buren, AR, Heather Chapman and husband Gavin of Tamaha, OK, and Ashley Rose of Van Buren, AR; brother: Ronald Penick and wife Tonya of Antlers, OK; sister: Kathie Penick of Antlers, OK; grandchildren: Ava Rose of Van Buren, AR, Zoe Martin-Rose of Van Buren, AR, and Skyler Chapman of Tamaha, OK; nieces and nephews: Richard Stigall of Antlers, OK, Jonathan Penick of Antlers, OK, Nicholas Penick and wife Amber of Antlers, OK, and Stephanie Merck and husband Nicholas of Rattan, OK; and great-nephew: Leeam Merck of Rattan, OK.
Memorial services will be held on July 18, 2021 at 11:30AM and Wister State Park at the Heflin Pavilion.
