John Baze Obituary

John Henry Baze, age 88, passed from this life on August 30th, 2020 in Paris, Texas. He was born to William Pinkney Baze and Jenny Lee (Francisco) Baze on January 2nd, 1932 in Spencerville, Oklahoma.

Henry proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Corporal in Korea from the years 1952 to 1960. He married Peggy Baze in Clovis, New Mexico on June 4th, 1956. He was a lifelong resident of the Rattan area. He was a member of the Rattan First Baptist Church, as well as, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Henry worked as the Rattan Public School's transportation director for many years. He also worked as police chief for around 20 years, and worked with the Pushmataha County Sheriffs Office. Henry holds the honor of being Rattan, Oklahoma's very first judge. During his downtime, Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially loved playing with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Henry is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years: Peggy Jane Baze; mother and father: Pink and Jenny Baze; brothers: Billy Joe Baze and Charlie Baze; sisters: Reba Russell, Doris Henderson, and Lois Young.

He is survived by his children: Johnny Wayne Baze and wife Donna Gail of Rattan, Oklahoma, Mark Randell Baze and wife Dolores of Cloudy, Oklahoma, Robby Gene Baze and wife Diann of Rattan, Oklahoma, Russell Joe Baze and wife Donna Kay of Rattan, Oklahoma, Steven Scott Baze and wife Michelle of Rattan, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Randell Baze, Jessica Carter and husband Clay, Tanner Wilson, Jo Belk, Todd Belk and wife Donna, Kelli Fulks, Will Baze and wife Aubrey, Mark Baze and wife Mary, Kayce Dennison and husband Braden, Krista Baze, Brittanie Grimmett and husband Justin, Stephanie Rogers and husband Clay, Cassidy Anderson and husband Dan, Jacob Baze, Kaitlyn Baze; great- grandchildren: Clayci Carter, Aubrey Carter, Ian Fulks, Isaac Fulks, Beth Fulks, Emerson Fulks, Emmett Baze, McKinna Grimmett, Avery Rogers, Savage Grimmett, Maddox Anderson; sister-in-law: Debbie Todd; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Services for Henry will be held Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 10:00AM at Rattan First Baptist Church with Mark Baze officiating. Interment will follow at Baze Family Cemetery.
