John Howard Cocke was born October 31, 1937 in Kellond, Oklahoma to Samuel Bentley and Maggie Louise (Mayne) Cocke. He passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the age of 83. John graduated from Antlers High School in 1956. He married Jimi Ann Moyer on July 14, 1962 at the First Baptist Church of Antlers. John adored his wife and they shared a life of adventure. When first married John and Jimi lived in Denison, Texas and John worked at the State National Bank. Upon moving back to Antlers in 1964, John and Jimi purchased and operated the Stafford Drug Store. Combining his love of the outdoors and entrepreneurial spirit, John began selling real estate in 1968. For the next four decades he sold southeast Oklahoma to the world. John was a longtime board member for the Oklahoma Woodland Owners Association and a staunch supporter of the timber industry in southeastern Oklahoma.
John spent countless hours exploring and looking at land. He loved Pushmataha County and knew every creek, ridge, and valley. John enjoyed reading and always carried a western in his back pocket. He was a sweet and kind man, a good listener, loyal friend, and devoted to his family.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Bentley Cocke and Maggie Cocke; sister JoAn Pace and husband Sam Pace; and beloved wife Jimi Ann Cocke.
John is survived by daughter Jona Ann Tucker of Moyers; daughter Jana Lea and husband Quintron of New Orleans; grandson Nicholas Ruffin Tucker and wife Kelsey, along with great-granddaughters Clara Ann and Evelyn Ruffin of Kellond.
A memorial service will take place at 4:00 pm Saturday, November 6, 2021 at John and Jimi’s former home in Kellond with Brent Franks officiating.
