Johnnie Joy (Karr) Hairfield

Johnnie Joy (Karr) Hairfield, 92, of Finley, Oklahoma, passed from this life November 23, 2022, in Antlers, Oklahoma. She was born August 31, 1930, in Finley, Oklahoma, the oldest daughter of John and Georgia (Poole) Karr.

She enjoyed genealogy, gardening and admired all types of flowers. Johnnie also delighted in oil painting and made many beautiful works of art. She was a registered nurse who later became an anesthesiologist. Lola Mays, Johnnie and several others started Mays Home Health. She taught many classes to train new Home Health Aides. While at Mays Home Health, she began to set up numerous other offices in the regional area. With over sixty years of nursing experience, Johnnie was very prominent in the nursing field. Johnnie was also a member of the Daughters Of The American Revolution. She joined the DAR in January of 1991, and served as Regent through 1997-1999 and 2008-2010. Johnnie served as the registrar for many years and helped many women complete paperwork for DAR membership. She also served proudly as Chairperson for Constitution Week where she provided educational programs for local elementary students. Johnnie was a very smart, kind and hospitable lady, who will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents: John And Georgia Karr; sisters: Tennie Dale McKinney-Goswick and Barbara Thompson; husband: H.D. Hairfield Jr.; and granddaughter: Julie Ann Hairfield.

Johnnie is survived by her sons: H.D. Hairfield III and wife Betty Sue and John Charles Hairfield and wife Pamela; daughter: Gee Gee (Hairfield) Simmons; grandchildren: Matthew Hairfield, Michael Hairfield, Ashlyn (Hairfield) Chandler and Jennifer (Hairfield) Stevens; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers include: Butch Hairfield, John Charles Hairfield, Matthew Hairfield, Zac Stevens, Jeffrey Reese, Stephan Barnes and Michael Hairfield.

Funeral services for Johnnie Hairfield will be held 2pm, Monday, November 28, 2022, at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel, in Antlers, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Finley Cemetery, in Finley, Oklahoma.

Family night will be Sunday November 27, 2022 from 2-4 PM at Serenity Funeral Service.
