Judith James, an accomplished academic and devoted family member, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2023, in Durant, Oklahoma, at the age of 77. Born in McPherson, Kansas, on November 21, 1945, Judith dedicated her life to the pursuit of knowledge, both for herself and the generations of students she mentored.
Earning her PhD in English literature, Judith pursued her passion for teaching at South Carolina University, where she worked tirelessly to enrich the lives of her students as a beloved professor. Always eager to share her wealth of knowledge with others, Judith also volunteered at her local library, guiding countless readers to new literary discoveries.
Family was at the heart of Judith's life, and she cherished the moments spent with her loved ones. As a strong, caring, and nurturing presence, she was always there for her family, offering support and wisdom at every turn. Her warmth and kindness extended to the smallest members of her household: a beloved pet cat who was both her constant companion and source of joy. Beyond these family bonds, Judith nurtured a deep love for reading, a pastime that brought her immense pleasure and enriched her life. Judith was preceded in death by her parents: Harold and Faye Giblin; and sister: Pat McFarland.
She is survived by her niece: Angela Little; great-niece: Corey Little; great-nephew: Cody Little and wife Kallie; and great-great-nieces: Madi, Taytum, and June Little.

A graveside service for Judith will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11AM at the Antlers City Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Service of Antlers, Oklahoma.
