Kathryn Sue Cook Obituary

Kathryn Sue Cook (87) passed away early in the morning of January 24, 2026 and joined her family in paradise.  She was born to Roy and Mae Byrne on December 11, 1938.  Katy graduated from school in Hartshorne Oklahoma and attended an all girls college in Denton Texas. She loved, traveling with friends and family.  She loved Las Vegas and about the time she couldn’t fly anymore the casino came to Oklahoma.
Katy had several dear friends who have gone before her whom she missed dearly. Joan McKinney, went to paradise last fall and Katy missed Joan and her sister Jan so very much. She married once and then several years ago She had found love again with a special man, Bill Ess.  Katy had such a servants heart, she was always there when a hand was needed, she was so generous and really did live what she believed.  Everyone who was close enough knew she had such a gentle heart.  She touched the hearts of her caregivers, Danielle Maynard and Jana Hunter, who witnessed just how special she was.  She thanked them everyday for caring for her and would even tell them she was sorry when she could no longer eat for them.  The last few days she continually attempted to comfort them when she could tell they were sad.
Katy loved animals, all animals, small, large, if she could have she would have had a house full of cats and dogs.  When she was a little girl in Hartshorne she wanted a horse so bad, her parents bought her a used bridle because it smelled like a horse and she was thrilled, she said it was the next best thing.
Katy is survived by Mike and wife Maxine Roe of Savanna OK, David and Donna Roe of Sand Springs, Jana and husband Mike Wallace of Antlers, numerous great nieces and nephews, as well as great great nieces and nephews.  She was loved by all of us!
