Kathryn McMahon, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and esteemed educator, departed from this life on February 7, 2026, at the age of 80 in Antlers, Oklahoma. She was born on January 17, 1946, in Oklahoma City, OK to her parents, the late Warren Cooper and Virginia Cooper, and was the cherished granddaughter of the late Nelly May Whitson and Joe Whitson.
Kathryn's life was a testament to her dedication to family and her passion for education. She leaves behind a legacy in her children: Silas Knaust, Stanley Knaust, Stacie Davis, Jimmy Don Tippie, and Tanya Tippie. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Shawn Knaust, Kayla Knaust Dugas, and Jacob Knaust; great-grandchildren: Saige Knaust, Ian Knaust, and Rylan Jackson. Kathryn was preceded in death by her grandson: Cain Jackson.
A lifelong scholar, Kathryn achieved a Doctor of Philosophy and a Bachelor of Business, which stood as the foundation of her career as a Professor at Liberty University. Her commitment to higher education inspired countless students and colleagues, leaving a lasting imprint.
Kathryn's faith played a significant role in her life, rooted strongly in Christian beliefs. She embraced the teachings of love, compassion, and service, and cherished her community at DVO Ministries.
A lover of the great outdoors, Kathryn found peace and joy in observing wildlife. This love was paralleled by her deep interest and reverence for her American Indian background, a heritage she researched and celebrated.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at DVO Ministries, 3129 HWY 30, STE B, Mesquite, TX.
