Larry Wayne Gather

Larry Wayne Gather, 74, went to be with our Lord on December 7, 2018. He was born September 1, 1944 in Hobart, Oklahoma to William Bee Dewey Gather and Mary Viola (Mitchell) Gather.

Larry married his loving wife, Loretta (Morrison) Gather, on December 30, 1966 in Granite, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and part of the Antlers community for 41 years. Larry served in the National Guard, worked for Coffey funeral home, was a security guard for Antlers Public Schools, and a reserve police officer for Antlers Police Department. He enjoyed cooking, sharing meals with friends and occasionally the school teachers, and hiking in Colorado. He was an impromptu traveler, a gun and knife collector, and a Lover of the WORD of GOD.

Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Viola, and father, William Bee; his grandparents: William Jerry Gather and Nellie Johnson Gather; brother: Walter Harold Gather; nieces: Charlotte Kay Hazel and Heather Renee Baker.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Lee Gather of the home; children Kevin Gather and wife Misty of Antlers; daughters: Candi Turner and husband Dwight of Prosper, Texas, and Kimberly Cannon and husband Justin of Atoka, Oklahoma; brothers: Howard Gather and wife Mary, Jerry Gather, Dewey Gather; sisters: Corene Callahan, Lorene Hazel, and Louise Nix; His grandchildren: Hayden Sipes, Hadley Cannon, Landon Bates-Turner, Sydney Turner, Hunter Gather, Cailin Cannon, Tatum Cannon, and William Turner; Great-grandchildren: Tanner Outlaw Carr-Sipes and Karson Joe Sipes; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Celebration for Larry will be held 3 PM Wednesday December 12, 2018 at the Antlers First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Antlers City Cemetery.

Family night for Larry will be Tuesday from 6-8 PM at Serenity Funeral Service in Antlers, Oklahoma.
