Lawrence Cathey Obituary
Lawrence Kelly Cathey, 59, passed from this life surrounded by his family at his home in Antlers, on June 4, 2022. He was born on January 18, 1963 in Atoka, Oklahoma. Kelly had lived in the Antlers area for all of his life.
Kelly was a civil engineer for over 40 years, working in different states. He could operate any equipment, but was a number one blade operator. Kelly enjoyed fishing, hunting, and, most of all, being with his family. He was proud of his three children and was so proud when the grandbabies were around. He really enjoyed when he was off working and his family would come visit for the summer.
Kelly is preceded in death by his parents: Ralph and Miami Elizabeth (Underwood) Jones; grandparents: Lawrence and Millie Underwood; brother: Wayne Cathey; and son: Henry Eldon Cathey.
He is survived by his wife: Wanda A. (Greenwood) Cathey of the home; son: Michael Dean Cathey and wife Heather of Pleasanton, TX; daughter: Natasha Leann Cathey of Antlers, OK; sisters: Sharon Walker and husband Ronald of Antlers, OK, and Barbara Roe and husband Jim of Antlers, OK; grandchildren: Brice Allen Harper, Reanna Marie Cathey, Anna Grace Cathey, Corbin Michael Cathey, Ryker Dean Cathey, Taylor Lainge Cathey Ramirez and husband Zachary, Yancy DeRay Cathey, Raygin Creek Cathey, and Samuel Wayne Cathey; great-granddaughter: Ellianna Joan Ramirez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to say a big thank you to Haley Davis. She jumped in without anyone asking and helped take care of Kelly. "He even said she did a good job." Words cannot express how the family appreciates all the help she gave him, Mema is so grateful to Brice and Reanna they helped with their Papa every time she called them.
A family night will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 6-8PM at Serenity Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 2PM at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel with Lucy Durant and Charles Greenwood officiating. Pallbearers include: Weston Walker, Jeremy Roe, James Barcus, Jeff Fry, Chance McArthur, and Tony Greenwood. Honorary pallbearers include: Brice Harper, Corbin Cathey, Ryker Cathey, Reanna Cathey, Grace Cathey, Quentin Daggs, Jonathon Webb, and Mickey Cochran. Interment will follow at the Cathey Family Cemetery.
Services have been entrusted with Serenity Funeral Service of Antlers, OK.
