Leonard Lee Vaughan, 71 of Antlers, went to be with his Lord on November 17, 2022, with his loving family at his side. He was born to Cecil Leonard and Bonnie Lee (Gordon) Vaughan in Reese, Kansas on June 8, 1951.
Lee was a lifelong public servant, working for both the Pushmataha County Sheriff's office and Antlers Police Department. From 1979-1982 Lee served Antlers as the Chief of Police, before eventually retiring from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, and also an avid reader. Lee bravely fought a long, hard battle, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Cecil and Bonnie Vaughan; father-in-law: SD "Skeet" Gregg; and grandchild: Baby Vaughan.
Lee is survived by his wife: Gayla Vaughan of the home; daughter: Erin Sorrells and husband Richard of Antlers, OK; son: Greg Vaughan and wife Ashley of McAlester, OK; grandchildren: Madeline Sorrells, Cayd Sorrells, Marshall Vaughan, and Paislee Vaughan; brothers: Robert Vaughan and James Vaughan; sister: Mary Louise Henderson; special honorary grandson: Kade Robertson; as well as numerous friends and relatives.
A family night will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Serenity Funeral Service. Funeral services take place Monday, November 21, 2022 at 2PM at the First Baptist Church of Antlers with Brother Dave Cantrell officiating. Pallbearers include: Greg Vaughan, Marshall Vaughan, Ashley Vaughan, Richard Sorrells, Cayd Sorrells, Madeline Sorrells, Paislee Vaughan, and Erin Sorrells. Honorary pallbearers include: Robert Vaughan, James Vaughan, Ron Potter, Kenny Spear, Tyler Spear, and Steve Tripp.
Services have been entrusted with Serenity Funeral Service of Antlers, Oklahoma.
