Loyd Ray Holaday, Sr. Obituary

LOYD RAY HOLADAY Sr.

February 23, 1955- January 10, 2026

Loyd Ray Holaday Sr., age 70, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones after battling cancer. He was born in Potter County, Texas, to Jim and Imogene Holaday.

Loyd enjoyed working on automobiles and was an excellent machinist. He worked for Peterbilt for 24 years, retiring in 2021. He was an entrepreneur all his life. After retirement, he couldn’t just sit at home, so he started a new career and became a real estate agent. He considered this his hobby.

He enjoyed many pastimes, including picking and selling antiques, riding his motorcycle, watching his favorite crime shows, grilling burgers and hot dogs, traveling, and watching the Texas Rangers. After the loss of his pumpkin in 2023, he became a bit of a gun enthusiast. He and JR spent a lot of time together at the gun range and in their deer stand.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Imogene Holaday; his wife Pam Holaday; his siblings Lanny, Ronnie, Lonnie, and Karen; his brother-in-law Frankie Holmes; his stepson JP Griffin.

He is survived by his children Daryl Holaday and wife Melissa of Durant, OK; Tina Wasileski and husband Chad of Zanesville, OH; Alisha Holaday and Kurstie Dunegan of Durant, OK; and Loyd Holaday Jr and wife Miranda of Antlers, OK, many grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; his siblings: Jim  and wife Sheryl Holaday, Kathy Holmes, Lela and husband Kelly Cole, Lisa and husband Ray Jernigan, and Amy and husband Nick Colton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

After graduating high school, Loyd joined the United States Navy, where he served several years. Following his military service, he married Brenda Spinger and together they raised four children.

In 2003, Loyd married Pam Stewart in Fort Worth, Texas. They found their peaceful retreat in Antlers where they raised two fur children, Lucy and Sister, who were the center of their world. Loyd gained three bonus sons upon marrying Pam: JP Griffin; Wesley Griffin and wife Olivia of Fort Worth, Tx, and Randall Griffin and wife Elin of Burleson, TX.

Loyd and Pam enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. He often shared stories of their time in Boston, San Francisco, and a drive from Seattle to their favorite cabin near Mount Rainier. His most cherished adventure was snowmobiling in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.

A celebration of Loyd's life will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 2PM at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel.
