Margaret Ruth Billy

Margaret Ruth (Sharkey) Billy, 86, of Rattan, OK went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 25th, 2025 from her earthly home.

Margaret was born on August 4th, 1939 to Marvin and Frances (Nail) Sharkey in Wynnewood, Oklahoma.

She married Solomon Billy in 1958 in Paris, TX. They had 11 kids together and were married for 58 years. She was very proud to have 30 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Solomon Billy; Sister, Luisa Anna Underwood; Brothers, Leroy Jessie and Robert Jessie; Daughter Geneva Ruth Billy; Sons, Darryl Wesley Billy and John Austin Billy; Grand Children, Amber Dawn Day, Jeffery Lynn Davis Jr, and Memory Jade Billy and Great Grandchild, Aurora Pitman.

Margaret leaves behind her sister, Dorothy Mae Moore of Rattan, children Jo Ellen and Carey Scroggins of Rattan, OK; David and Brookie Billy of Rattan, OK; Sol Billy Jr. of Rattan, OK; Camilla Day of Rattan, OK; Donald Billy of Rattan, OK; Neil and Stormie Billy of Cloudy, OK; Justin and Gina Billy of Rattan, OK; and Michael Billy of Rattan, OK. 

She left the legacy as a devoted woman of faith, and lived her life grounded in the love of God and the joy of fellowship. She now rests in Heaven with the King she so dearly loved.

Margaret was known for her kind spirit, warm smile, and unwavering faith. She loved singing gospel music, often lifting her voice in praise with family, community gatherings, and in church. Her garden was her sanctuary, a place where she found peace and beauty in God's creation. Whether she was planting food for a bountiful harvest to feed the family, spending precious time with her loved ones, or welcoming friends or neighbors with open arms, Margaret made every day a blessing to those around her. Her wit and practical advice were always at the ready when gathered at her dining room table. All who loved her sought that solace and cherished the love that came with the strong spoken direction. She lived out her faith by loving hard and forgiving often.

She spent most of her years living with her husband of 58 years at the end of a rocky dead-end road, where she built a life full of simple joys, deep connections, and a legacy of love. Widowed in her later years, she remained a pillar of strength, grace and encouragement to her family and community.

Margaret will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her life was a testament to faith, family, and fellowship.

Family night will be held at Serenity Funeral Service on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 6-8PM. Funeral services will take place at 10AM on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at the Rattan Gymnasium with Jim Smith and George Pigg officiating. Interment to follow at the Billy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Branden Billy, Jonathan Davis, Stan Dunlap, David Billy, Michael Cayton, John Austin Billy, Justin Edward Billy, and Dyllan Billy. Honorary pallbearers are Marvin Lee Billy "Sharkey", Tieler Billy, and Darryl Billy. 

Services are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Service of Antlers.
