Marshall Wallace Obituary

After a long struggle following a stroke, Ed Wallace passed peacefully on Friday evening, March 19, 2021.

Marshall Edward "Ed" Wallace was born on August 12, 1936 in Citra, OK and went to school there through the 8th grade. Ed attended and graduated from Gerty High School in Gerty, OK. Ed was the youngest of five children; he had four older sisters, and he often said, "It's a wonder that I wasn't spoiled." Ed's parents were Clinton Edward Wallace and Carrie Faye Nickell Wallace.

Ed met the love of his life, Joan Phillips, as she was walking across the street with a girlfriend in Allen, OK. Joan later found out that the friend had a major crush on Ed. Ed grew up helping his dad on the farm; his dad had always farmed with a team of mules. However, when Ed was in high school, he decided he needed a tractor, which he bought. Even so, Ed's dad always worried that the fumes from the tractor would poison the crops.

Ed went to work in the oil field when he was still in High School. While working in the oil field, Ed traveled to Wyoming, where Joan happened to be living. He and Joan were married in Riverton, Wyoming on November 17, 1956. Ed and Joan moved back to Oklahoma and Ed began construction work. He continued in the construction business most of his life. Because of the nature of Ed's work, they moved quite a lot. This explains why their four children were born in four different states: Oklahoma, Wyoming, Colorado, and Kansas.

Ed was a member of the Antlers Church of Christ where he served as an elder. He also served on the Antlers City Council and later as Mayor of Antlers. Ed loved to hunt and fish. He built many barbecue smokers, and he loved to cook. Ed especially enjoyed the chili and rib cook-offs here in Antlers.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and four older sisters: Amogene Decker, Geneva Vinson, Theda Romeyn Horak, and Louise Nix; and brother in law: Wayne Phillips.

Ed is survived by his wife, Joan, of Antlers; daughter: LaDonna Wallace Alley and husband Ron of Tulsa, OK; sons: Rod Wallace and wife Creda of Dalton, PA, Mike Wallace and wife Jana of Finley, OK, and Eric Wallace and wife Kathy of Finley, OK; sisters-in-law: Gaye and husband Glenn Neal of Littleton, CO and Roylene Phillips of Longmont, CO; grand-kids: Courtney Ranallo and husband Joe of OKC, OK, Colten Wallace of Clayton, OK, Kaitlin Wallace of Stillwater, OK, Kaci Grammar and husband Jeremy of Antlers, OK, Zachery Alley and wife Jessica of Tulsa, OK, Samantha Wallace of Huntsville, TX, Cody Wallace of Tyler, TX, Gage Lair of Greenville, TX, Kace Hallows of Crystal, OK, Ryan Hopson and husband Jesse, Macy Toon and husband Lane, and Michell Smith; great grand-kids: Joey, Justice, and Ryan Ranallo, Cooper Wallace, Zachery, Braxton, Gracie, and Marshall Edward Alley, Rowan Blayke Hallows, Finley Grammar, and Jacoby and Kahlin Hopson, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
