Martha Lee (Mickel) Eden was born to George and Bulah Rebecca Mickel on January 14, 1930 in Altus, Oklahoma
She was the first of her 8 siblings, sisters- Cleo, Lillie, Martina, and Sovern; brothers-Cecil, Arvin and JD. Martha enjoyed the years of being the big sister and helping with the younger siblings. On May 24, 1947 she married the love of her life Jack Eden, they enjoyed life together for almost 60 years. They had two sons; Troy Eden and Roger Eden. Martha studied the bible and chose to get baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on January 11, 1958. She loved to share her joy of bible knowledge about God’s Kingdom and her hope with others. She loved going to the Kingdom Hall and the Assembly’s and Conventions held by Jehovah’s Witnesses. Martha loved dogs, particularly Poodles. She and Kathy Owens, a dear friend, worked together to care for dogs and to home the puppies for others to enjoy. This partnership led to Martha being able to do this on her own, which she enjoyed. Martha and Jack operated the Kiamichi Kamp in Messer, Oklahoma for around 8 years as well as ran a retail store where they sold antiques and collectibles. Martha loved going to Auctions where she found treasures for herself, such as red glass items and dishes. She enjoyed sewing, planting flowers, cooking, playing dominos, and reading the Bible. As well as spending time with family and friends. And up to the last months, she still got enjoyment out of playing dominos, and reading her Bible. Then the day came when she couldn’t recall how to do the things she once enjoyed or remember those from the past as she was robbed of memory by Alzheimer’s. Everyone on her home health and hospice care team said it was a treat to see Martha, she always had a smile when they came to see her and was a sweet kind person. Martha believed in the Bible promises of a resurrection back to earth. A time when her good memory will be restored. And she will be youthful and never be sick again. Martha passed from this life on February 26, 2022 in Wilburton, Oklahoma where she was loved and cared for by the Hedgecock family.
