Marvin Darrell Scarberry, Sr., better known as Darrell, was born in Nashoba, OK, on the 21st of August 1949, where he passed peacefully in his home on September 18, 2023. As a lifelong resident of the Nashoba area, his devotion to his community was profound.
Darrell was a proud veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving his country bravely in the United States Army. After his service, Darrell continued to lead a life rooted in hard work in the logging industry. He was also an active member of Nolia Assembly of God, where he cultivated a strong spiritual foundation. Darrell was a proud member of the Nashoba School Board Member for 30 years.
As a big Nascar fan, one of his most invigorating passions was racing cars, an interest he maintained throughout his lifetime.
He was preceded in death by his parents: M.L. and Marie Scarberry, leaving a meaningful legacy for his surviving family members.
Darrell is survived by his loving spouse: Scarlet Scarberry of the home.
His children: Marvin and Jeanene Scarberry of Clayton, Chad Scarberry and Kayla Goodale of Nashoba, Carl and Mandy Crites of Lehigh, Anthony and Ashten Williams of Smithville will keep his memory alive.
Siblings: his brother: Kerry Scarberry and his wife Vickey of Clayton, OK, and his sister: Helen Williams and her husband Tim of Nashoba, OK. He is also remembered by his ex-wife: Sherry Brian of Nashoba, OK.
Darrell's grandchildren Chad Johnson, Mckenna Nunnelee, Jaden Crites, Natalie Scarberry, Charlee Donaho, Marley Crites, Jagger Crites, Ally Williams, Logan Scarberry, Cash Williams, Logan and Emily Livingston.
Great-grandchildren: Hagen Johnson, Allie, Kason, Remington, Fisher Nunnelee, and Rowan Robertson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A family night will take place on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 6-8PM at Serenity Funeral Service. Funeral services for Darrell will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 10AM at Nolia Assembly of God with Keith Williams and Derik Gee officiating.
Pallbearers: Roger Wright, John "Pine Knot" Scarberry, Evridge Hamman, Chris Sisk, Mike Briggs, and David Ralston.
Honorary pallbearers: Gene Williams, Otis Pugh, Timmy Williams, and the Pushmataha County District 3 employees.
Interment will follow at Nolia Cemetery with honors performed by the United States Army.
