Melissa Gay Mays passed from this life March 13, 2024, in Antlers, Oklahoma. She was born July 5, 1955, in Antlers, Oklahoma, to Harold and Lorene (Younge) Melton.

She lived in the Antlers area for over sixty years, and was liked by all who knew her. Melissa was interested in genealogy and enjoyed watching true crime and murder mystery television. Above all else, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Melissa will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Melissa is preceded in death by her parents: Harold and Lorene Melton; husband: Dwaine Mays; brother: Michael Melton; and sister: Linda K. Mann.

She leaves behind her children: Amanda Hyde and husband David of Antlers, Oklahoma and John Rymel and wife Dena of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Christian Hammons, Conner Hammons, Lexi Hyde and Kade Hyde; as well as a host of other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 2PM at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel with Billy Hunter officiating. Pallbearers include: Christian Hammons, Conner Hammons, David Hyde, and John Rymel.
