Michael Eugene Carriger Obituary

Michael Eugene Carriger, 65, passed from this life on September 21, 2022, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born in Bakersfield, California on July 3, 1957, to Homer Frederick and Eula Mae (Greenfeather) Carriger.

Mike moved to Southeast Oklahoma in 1967 and made this area his home. Before his retirement, he worked many years doing maintenance for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority. Mike loved being outdoors, and spent much of his time hunting, fishing, and gardening. He especially loved taking care of his fruit trees. Mike was very skilled with his hands, becoming a talented cedar woodworker and shade tree mechanic. In his spare time he enjoyed riding his VMAX, watching baseball and playing billiards.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents: Homer "Fred" Carriger and Eula Mae Carriger; siblings: Ray Carriger, TJ Carriger, and Clara Holt Carriger.

He is survived by his children: Timmy Ray Carriger and wife Leah of Durant, OK, Terry Carriger and wife Amber of Clayton, OK, and Melissa Marie Shufeldt and husband Billy Joe of Owasso, OK; siblings: Freda (Carriger) Brown of Clayton, OK and Auno Carriger of Oklahoma City, OK; and grandchildren: Gavin, Makayla, Kinlee, Trenton, Hunter, Colton, and Haven.

Services for Mike will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 11AM at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will take place at One Creek Cemetery, with lunch to follow at the Finley Community Center.
