Norma Jean Williams went to be with her Lord on January 25, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born on September 8, 1942, in the small town of Holly Creek, Oklahoma, to Alvin and Helen (Rounsaville) Overbey.
Norma's life was one marked by dedication to her family, her work, and service to others. She was the beloved matriarch who is survived by her children: Teresa Reeves and husband Steve of Moyers, Oklahoma, Lucy Alexander of Antlers, Oklahoma, Wendy Landtroop and husband Larry of Cleburne, Texas, Sheila Petet and husband Steve of Springdale, Arkansas; step children: Terry Williams and wife Debbie of Antlers, Oklahoma, and Ricky Williams and wife Loraine of De Queen, Arkansas. She was a sister to Linda Gail Cobb and her daughters Brenda Fladie and Tammy Beasley and Glenn Overbey. Her legacy continues through her twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored immensely. Aside from her immediate family, Norma leaves behind numerous other family members and a host of friends who were touched by her gracious spirit.
Norma ventured into holy matrimony with Herman Leon Williams on May 16, 1969. Together, they navigated the trials and triumphs of life for 28 years until his passing. Preceding Norma in death are her parents: Alvin and Helen Overbey; her cherished husband: H.L. Williams; her dear daughter: Ginger Barnes; her grandson: Jason Cleghorn; and her sister: Mary Francis Cobb.
Remembered as spirited, loving, and adventurous, Norma was an active member of her community. She was passionate about Karate, not just as a personal interest, but as a way to empower others-teaching children with disabilities and offering self-defense classes to women in the Antlers area. Her unwavering love for her family was matched by her commitment to her church and the heart she poured into volunteering within her community.
Norma lived a life full of purpose and joy, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of courage, kindness, and unwavering support will continue to inspire and guide us. Norma's bright spirit will remain alive in the countless lives she touched, and her memory will be cherished forever.
