Norman Vaughan Obituary

Norman E. Vaughan passed away on April 2, 2023 after living 96 beautiful years. He was born in Antlers, Oklahoma on May 14, 1926 to James Luther Vaughan and Lily Opal (Hurd) Vaughan.

Norman met Lois Beaty at a youth rally at Wright City Assembly of God and they fell in love. He married Lois on September 24, 1949 in his hometown of Antlers, and together they shared over 73 years of marriage.

Norman served his country in the United States Army, and spent that time stationed in Hawaii at the Army Veterinary Station working as a horse and dog trainer. After his service, he made his living logging in the forests of Southeast Oklahoma. He enjoyed the simplicity of time spent outdoors, and loved camping and fishing. Norman could often be found working in his garden and keeping the yard beautiful for his wife. He always looked forward to visiting and conversations with his grandchildren. Norman was a member of the Living Water Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents: James and Opal Vaughan; son: Justin "Rusty" Vaughan; and sister: Chloe Ann Smith.

Norman is survived by his beloved wife: Lois Vaughan of the home; son: Terry Vaughan and wife Lawanda; daughter in law: Sheila Vaughan Sherman; grandchildren: Blaine Vaughan and wife Samantha of Dayton, OH, Terron Vaughan and wife SueAnn of Glenpool, OK, Jamie Lindsey and husband Greg of Parker, CO, and Justin Vaughan and wife Yolanda of Pittsburgh, TX; great-grandkids: Abriella Vaughan, Eden Vaughan, Christopher Vaughan, Ella Grace Vaughan, Gunner Vaughan, and James Lindsey; step-great grandchildren: Jocelyn Jo (Jocie) Hargrove, Travis Hargrove, Nicholas Hargrove; and step great-great-grandchildren: Sophie Hargrove, Carson, and Calvin Hargrove.
