Oletta Reeves Obituary

Rose Oletta Reeves, known to family and friends as Oletta, passed away on March 31, 2026, in Hugo, Oklahoma, at the age of 79. She was born on October 5, 1946, in Dunbar, Oklahoma to Bud and Laura Payne, and lived a life marked by devotion to her family and the simple joys that made each day meaningful.

Oletta was a woman who treasured the people and places that shaped her life. She found happiness in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she especially loved the laughter and energy they brought into her home and heart. She also enjoyed tending her cows. Another favorite pastime was visiting with friends at the Moyers store, where she enjoyed many wonderful conversations.


She is preceded in death by her husband: Melvin Reeves; parents: Bud and Laura Payne; brothers: Buck Shelly Payne, Tommy Joe Payne, and Royston Payne; sisters: Ruby Jewell Payne and Lillian Prewitt; sister-in-law: Joan Payne; brothers-in-law: Mike Martinez and Gary Prewitt; and niece: Julie Payne.


She is survived by her children: Connie Reeves and Steve Reeves and wife Teresa; grandchildren: Danielle Allen and husband Jason, Rusty Williams and wife Candice, Alisha Lawless and husband Wade, Christopher Reeves and wife Chelsey, and Ryan Reeves; great-grandchildren: Gregory Williams and wife Corrinna, Madison Sorrells, Kynlea Sorrells, Jarrett Sorrells, Maverick Williams, Jayden Lawless, Radley Williams, Jansen Lawless, Jentry Lawless, Chance Reeves, Willow Reeves, and Saylor Reeves; great-great-granddaughter: Emorie Williams; siblings:   Dan Henry Payne, Deloris and Robert Blan, Mary Jane Martinez, Hope and Mike Buonaugurio, Dana and David Payne, Johnny Payne and Deanna; sister-in-law: Katy Payne; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. 


Those who knew Oletta will remember her as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and in the many cherished moments they shared with her.


A memorial service will be held at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 10AM.
