A dedicated scholar, Rita earned her bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University followed by a Masters of Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Her passion for special education and meaningful work led her to a rewarding career with Lift, where she was known for her commitment to the children with special needs for over 40 years.

She is survived by her devoted brother Joe Shaw and his wife Pati of Idabel, her treasured nieces Leslie (Shaw) Navarro, Ashley (Shaw) Youngblood, Kelli Shaw, Paige Shaw, Brenlyn, Bowie, and her nephews Levi Killman, Reed Shaw, Braden Shaw along with her traveling Companion Wanie Morris. Rita was also preceded in death by her nephew Joe Brent Shaw.

Living a life replete with joy and engagement, Rita was a prominent figure at family gatherings and a pillar in her Southeast Oklahoma community. She relished the thrill of finding the perfect family heirloom, cheering on her beloved nephews at their events. Rita loved attending the MC6 basketball tournament and looked forward to it every year. She also enjoyed excitement of the casino. Her love for travel, antiques, and her self-proclaimed membership of QVC showcased her zest for life.

A warm and radiant presence now missed by all who knew her, Rita Jane Shaw-Burke left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and delightful stories. Her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to have felt the warmth of her generous spirit.
