Robert Lewis "BJ" Johnston passed away peacefully on August 25, 2023, in Duncan, OK. Born on January 14, 1934, in Millerton, OK, BJ lived a remarkable life filled with love, courage, and dedication.
BJ was preceded in death by his first wife: Meredith Johnston; his second wife: Ruby Johnston; his father: Johnny Johnston; mother: Alma Johnston; stepmother: Thelma Johnston; and siblings: Charles Johnston, Johnny Johnston, James Johnston, Bill Johnston, Troy Allen Johnston, Park McCoy, and Minnie Forshee.
He is survived by his children: Vicky Johnston and two stepsons; siblings: Coy Johnston, George Johnston, and Mary Johnston Sisk; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Called to serve his country, BJ bravely served in the Korean War as a member of the United States Army. Upon his return, he found his calling as the long-time owner of BJ's One Stop in Rattan, OK, creating fond memories and deep roots within the community.
A man of the outdoors, his spirit was the happiest when hunting deer and fishing. BJ's interests perpetuated an appreciation for nature that is lovingly remembered and deeply missed.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 10AM at Joe Slater Memorial Cemetery in Wright City, OK with Rosa Johnston officiating.
Services are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Service of Antlers, OK.
