Rosa Lee (Allen) Smith

Rosa Lee Smith was born on November 17, 1932, in Lane, OK, to the late Staley and Dovie Allen, and passed away peacefully in Antlers, OK, on April 24, 2023. Throughout her 90 years, Rosa touched the lives of many with her wisdom, love, and dedication to her family.

Rosa was no stranger to hard work and giving back. She was a dedicated wife to her late husband, Buford O. Smith, Jr., and a loving mother to her two children, Ellen Burnett and Carl Smith.

Rosa's family was incredibly important to her. She is preceded in death by her parents: Staley and Dovie Allen; her husband: Buford O. Smith, Jr.; and her six siblings: Ralph Allen, Arthur Allen, Marie Bain, Ruby Cranfield, Betty Cranfield, and Eunice Swift. She is survived by her two children: Ellen Burnett and her husband Elbert of Antlers, and Carl Smith and his wife. Rosa also leaves behind her brother: John W. Allen and his wife Lynda, along with four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

In addition to her commitment to her family, Rosa was an incredibly talented and gifted woman. From an early age, she showed a talent for the domestic arts, excelling in canning, baking, knitting, and quilting. She often shared her creations with her friends and family, infusing each piece with her own warmth and loving energy. Her skills went beyond the home as well, as Rosa was an accomplished musician, playing guitar and entertaining loved ones throughout her life.

One of Rosa's many passions was bird watching, and she could often be found sitting in the sunshine, observing the beauty of nature. She enjoyed sharing her observations with friends and family, delighting in the wonder of the world around her.

Rosa will be remembered as a wise and loving force in the lives of all who knew her. She touched countless lives through her caring spirit, and her memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 2PM at Finley Cemetery.
