Sam Smith, Jr.

Sam B Smith, Jr., 84, passed from this life on February 28, 2021 at his home in Antlers, OK. He was born on September 10, 1936 in the Hall Community to Sam Smith and Nora Boykin Smith.

Sam married Mary Jo Rosenthal on July 6, 1962 in Rattan, Oklahoma. He was a lifetime resident of Pushmataha County and retired Choctaw Electric after 41 years. Sam also retired as a volunteer firefighter for the Antlers Fire Department. He was a man of Baptist faith and enjoyed spending his time outdoors hunting and fishing. Sam also loved playing poker with his poker buddies.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents: Sam and Nora Smith; siblings: Clyde Smith, Edgar Smith, Edward Smith, Wick Smith, Carl Smith, Sanford Smith, Willie Rae Belcher, Bobbie Franks, Elma Martin, and Louise Sherring.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Jo Smith of the home; children: Stacy L. Smith LeNorman of Antlers, OK, Tracy L. Smith Jones of Sulphur, OK, and Jeffery C. Smith of Antlers, OK; and sister: Val McLaughlin of Los Osos, California; grandchildren: Max LeNorman, Alex LeNorman, Hunter Smith, and Meredith Jones.

Graveside services for Sam will take place on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 2PM at Rattan Cemetery with Pastor Billy Hunter officiating. Pallbearers include: Mike Wood, Randy Mills, Toby Winningham, Larry Morgan, Charlie Duncan, Bob Clifton, Billy Sam Smith, Carl McAdams, Johnny Courtwright, Terry Smith, Ricky Mills, Roddy Mills and Seth Wood.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rattan Cemetery Fund.
