Sammy Carl Tigert

Sammy Carl Tigert, lifelong resident of Southeast Oklahoma, passed from this life on April 24, 2026 at his home in Antlers, Oklahoma. He was born on January 6, 1949 in Quanah, Texas to Paul Tigert and Vetta Pauline (Cochran) Tigert.

Sammy retired from Weyerhaeuser after a 30+ year long career, and also enjoyed working as a short haul trucker. He was a rancher and cowboy at heart, who loved to raise good dogs and fine horses. Sammy never met a stranger and always had a joke or story to tell, no matter what.

He is preceded in death by his mother: Pauline Tigert; father: Paul Keller Tigert; and brother: Eddie Paul Tigert.

Sammy is survived by his children: Tommy Tigert and wife Raylene of Antlers, OK, and Billy Tigert and wife Megan of Yukon, OK; sister: Judy Colley and husband Roy of Antlers, OK; grandchildren: Jaiden Tigert and husband Colton, Avery Welch and husband Russell, Kouper Kay Tigert, Talan Klein, Alec Gray, and Violet Becker; great-grandchildren: Easton Tigert, Caston Tigert, and Carsyn Rae Welch; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends..

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 2PM at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel with Luke Howard officiating.

Services are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Service of Antlers.
