Sherry Laverne (Payne) Burke passed from this life at her Hochatown, Oklahoma home on February 1, 2023 at the age of 77. She was born in Antlers, Oklahoma on November 27, 1945, the oldest daughter of Bearl and Laverne Payne.

Sherry married Billy Burke on November 2, 1977. She was a very bright woman and worked diligently to earn her Masters Degree. Her hard work and education did not go unnoticed, as she was named in Who's Who of Nursing, a member of Academic Honor Society, and eventually becoming the Director of Nursing Education at Kiamichi Technology Center. Sherry enjoyed spending her free time making jewelry, reading, shopping, interacting on social media, and taking photographs.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Bearl and Laverne Payne; sisters: Shelley Kaye and Sharon; and grandparents: Lee and Lillie Martin, Homer and Nellie Payne.

Sherry is survived by her husband: Billy R. Burke of the home; children: Stormy L. Sherrer of Kentucky, Brande Sherrer of Kentucky, Kelly R. Persinger of Broken Bow, OK, Jessica Persinger of Broken Bow, OK, Roger Burke of Washington, and Charisse Burke-Waldron and spouse Vinton; sisters: Sheryl Annette Shannon of Antlers, OK, Joetta Payne Buchanan and husband Denny of Antlers, OK; as well as 18 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Sherry's life will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 10AM at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel with Kelly Persinger officiating. Graveside services will follow at Hochatown Cemetery at 2PM with Pete Wilson officiating.

Services are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Service of Antlers.
