Sherry Rose (Matthews) Dunlap was born on June 19, 1946 to Stanley and Wilma Matthews and passed away September 11th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and care. She lived her whole life in the Speer community.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Wilma Matthews and her daughter Kelly LaDawn Hickman.

Sherry is survived by her sons Stanley and wife Dana Dunlap of Cloudy, OK - Willie and wife Freddy Dunlap of Ringold OK. Grandchildren: David Hickman, Justin Hickman, Brian Dunlap, Logan Dodd, and Lainey Dunlap. Great Grandchildren: Kaytelyn, Matthew, Keylee, Austyn, and Christopher Hickman, Arabella Underwood, OakLynn Reign Mack Dunlap, and Riggs Tyler Dodd.

Sherry was a woman of many joys—she cherished music, reading, and above all, spending time with her family. She loved recalling old times and past adventures with special cousins and friends to pass her days. Her life was defined by her giving spirit, both as a nurse by profession and a caregiver at heart.

She found great delight in reminiscing about old times and reliving past adventures with her beloved cousins and dear friends. Whether to spark a laugh or provoke a playful reaction, Sherry’s conversations were often laced with humor—always aiming for a cackle or a rise, both of which brought her immense pleasure.

One of her favorite pastimes was sitting on her porch, her right hand raised gracefully with two fingers extended, as she watched animals—domesticated or wild—wander across her yard. These simple moments brought her peace and joy.

Sherry’s absence leaves a profound void in the lives of those who loved her. But we take comfort in knowing she is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. With a renewed body and eternal joy, she is surely dancing on the streets of gold. For that, we are forever grateful.
