Tammy Diane Booker Obituary

Tammy Diane Booker passed from this life on August 12, 2024. She was born December 16, 1959 in Antlers, Oklahoma, the first of Bill and Claudine Booker's four daughters. She was a pretty child, fiercely independent and thought her Daddy hung the moon.

Tammy attended school in Antlers, excelling in academics and band. She developed lifelong friendships with her classmates and excitedly anticipated their Homecoming reunions. She left Pushmataha County to attend college at East Central University in Ada, briefly lived in Oklahoma City and after her daughter Tara was born in 1991, she settled near her mother in Athens, Texas. In 2009, Tammy fulfilled a lifelong dream of making her home in a log cabin on the banks of the Kiamichi River in Clayton. Tammy felt a deep connection to the mountains and streams of Southeastern Oklahoma. She appreciated her neighbors that became friends.

A dedicated worker, Tammy held many occupations over the years. Her favorites were dog breeder and rural route mail carrier. Tammy's Pekingese puppies were treated like valued family members and prized by their adoptive families. Folks often returned to choose a companion dog from her kennel. Tammy was close to her fellow postal employees, took pride in delivering mail and looked forward to interacting with the familiar faces on her route.

Tammy loved her family and adored her grandsons Kaven and Brayden. She treasured her large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins and enjoyed helping with family reunions. Her passion for researching genealogy and recording in an online ancestry site led to the creation of an impressive family tree. She enjoyed gardening, both vegetables and flowers, especially the heirloom varieties she gathered from friends and abandoned homesites. She loved animals of all kinds. Besides caring for her beloved Pekingese, horses and cats, she loved watching deer, elk, otters and other wildlife along the river.

Tammy was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents Howard and Alce Campton, Arthur and Ruth Booker, nephew Dustin Trammell and brother in law, Shane Trammell. Her memory will be honored and kept alive by her surviving family members including daughter Tara Irvin, grandsons Kaven Loftis and Brayden Irvin, sisters Toni Frizell (Jeff), Terri Trammell (Gary), Tonya Autrey (Terry), nieces Courtney Hoelting, Amber Johnson, Kiery Fincher, and nephews Aaron Trammell, Tyler Frizell and Kyle Frizell and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Tammy was blessed with wonderful friends and loved ones that will miss her greatly. Her family would be honored for you to join us in a celebration of Tammy's life on August 25, at 2pm at the Antlers Community Building, 104 SE 2nd Street.
