Terry Joe Martin

Terry Joe "TJ" Martin went to be with his Lord on August 23, 2020 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years old. He was born in Finley, Oklahoma on March 15th, 1936 to J.W. and Lola Mae (Brown) Martin.

T.J. married Charlene Jeter in October of 1957 after serving in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed working with his cows on his CS - Ranch, listening to his favorite country music, watching Western movies, and telling jokes and stories. T.J. was a lifelong member of the local VFW and spent many years organizing dances and other activities. He was truly proud to be an American and never met a stranger.

T.J. is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Charlene Martin, his special grandmother Minnie Brown, with whom he spent many summer breaks; his parents: J.W. "Bill" Martin and Lola Mae (Brown) Martin; and his sister: Ivon Bontz Black.

He is survived by his children: Terry J. Martin and wife Regina Wyrick Martin of Idabel, Oklahoma, and Douglas E. Martin of Antlers, Oklahoma; brother: John R. Martin of Antlers, Oklahoma; sisters: LaGuene Rogers of Antlers, Oklahoma, and Debbie Poulson and husband Steve of Burleson, Texas; grandchildren: Mallarey Martin, Brandan Martin, Taylor Martin, Zachary Martin, and Preston Taylor; as well as many great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 3PM at Finley Cemetery with Brent Franks officiating. There will be open visitation on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 from 10am-8pm at Serenity Funeral Service in Antlers, Oklahoma.
