Theata Lois (Cooper) Cogburn, 77, of Fort Towson, Oklahoma, passed from this life on May 11, 2026, in Fort Towson, Oklahoma. She was born on November 20, 1948, in Ninnekah, Oklahoma, the daughter of George W. Cooper, Sr. and Dorothy (Malicoat) Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her parents: George and Dorothy Cooper; husband: James "Shorty" Cogburn; sister: Gloria Cooper; and brothers: George W. Cooper, Jr., John H. Cooper, Daniel M. Cooper and Cleo C. Cooper.
Theata is survived by her son: Casey Cogburn of Fort Towson, Oklahoma; daughter: Valorie Dunkin of Fort Towson, Oklahoma, granddaughters: Skyelar B. Woodruff and husband Dakota of Fort Towson, Oklahoma and Kendall L. Boyett and husband Tyler of Antlers, Oklahoma; great grandson: Crue Boyett; brother: Utah C. Cooper and wife of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; as well as other relatives and friends.
Theata's life was rich and blessed. She was a member of God's Church. During her life span on earth, she was a daughter, educator, 4-H leader, wife, mother and grandmother.
A graveside service for Theata will be held 10AM, Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Sobol Cemetery with Billy Dale officiating.
