Tommy Walter McArthur Obituary

Tommy Walter McArthur, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away surrounded by love on June 15, 2025, in Plano, Texas, at the age of 71. He was born on January 26, 1954, in Oklahoma City, OK to Walter McArthur and Gladys (Milam) McArthur.



A lifetime resident of Pushmataha County, Tommy worked in the oil field as a tong operator for 25 years, then spent 26 years as a dedicated member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers as a heavy equipment operator, where he earned the respect and friendship of his colleagues. A man of faith, he was a beloved member of the First Baptist Church of Antlers.



Among his interests, Tommy was known for his love of the outdoors. Whether he was checking cows, going on a hunting trip, or taking his beloved wife Kandy on vacations, Tommy was happiest when sharing these moments with his family.



He is survived by his wife: Kandy McArthur; children: Kassy Watson and her husband Ken of Antlers, OK, and Chance McArthur and his wife Shauna of Antlers, OK; grandchildren: Gage McArthur, Brian McArthur, Tanner McArthur, Kaleigh (Watson) Sheets, Kenadie Watson, Kade Watson, Chayden McArthur, and Averi McArthur, and great-grandchild: Nixie Jo Sheets.



He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Gladys McArthur; his son: Chad McArthur; his brothers: Bill McArthur and Dick McArthur; his sister: Betty Jordan; and his grandparents, James and Lola McArthur, and James and Amanda Milam. 



A family night will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 5-7PM at First Baptist Church Antlers. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 10AM at First Baptist Church Antlers with Reverend Aaron Reed and Brother Tim Green officiating. Pallbearers include: Gage McArthur, Brian McArthur, Tanner McArthur, Jarod Hatcher, Kade Watson, Chayden McArthur, Ken Watson, Clay Hill, Casen Hill, and Dalton Sheets. Honorary pallbearers are: Dewey Jon Hatcher, Hank Elliott, Dwight Satterfield, Dustin Trent, Dusty Jordan, Kevin Jordan, Jim McArthur, Chuck Finch, Cal Dean Vaughn, Craig Duke, and Jason O'Dell. Interment will follow at Hall Cemetery.



Services are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Service of Antlers.
