Vena Moon Obituary

Vena Bell Moon, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2023. Vena was born on May 2, 1932, in Finley, Oklahoma, to the late Earl and Hallie Barnett. She was just shy of celebrating her 91st birthday when she peacefully passed away in Shawnee, Oklahoma. A devoted wife, Vena was preceded in death by her loving husband of many years, James Moon.

Vena was blessed with a large family, including her children Joe, Jimmy, Ronnie, Donnie, and Shelia. Together, they brought the joy of 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren into Vena's life. She was also a cherished sister to her late siblings Curtis, Doyle, Thomas, Edna, Georgia, Ruth, Edith Mildred, and Geraldine. To know Vena was to know her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman, who opened her arms to everyone she met, wrapping them in the warmth of her love and the embrace of her faith.

Vena brought the same steadfast commitment and dedication to her work as she did to her family. For many years, she served as the Deli Manager of Snyder's Food in Yukon, Oklahoma. The Lord blessed her with the gift of an amazing work ethic and the ability to touch the lives of those she encountered. Vena created a sense of community in her workplace, where her colleagues knew they could come and find her strong and unwavering faith in action.

Our dear sister Vena found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, a testament to her down-to-earth spirit and her love for the Lord's gifts. She was passionate about cooking and gardening, and nothing gave her greater pleasure than sharing the fruits of her labors with friends and family. Her homemade dishes, a heavenly blending of southern comfort, grace, and love, will be remembered and cherished in every heart that was touched by her generosity.

Vena's legacy will continue to live on through the memories shared by the countless people she touched during her time on this earth. Fishing with her grandchildren was one of her favorite pastimes, and those precious moments spent together are now cherished memories that will be passed down through generations. As God's blessings flowed through Vena into the lives of each grandchild, the ripples expanded, transforming every life they touched. Indeed, we can all learn from Vena's life - one that expressed gratitude and the assurance of the Lord's love in all of creation.
