Vickie Sue Brown, a woman of strength, courage, and kindness, passed away at her home in Antlers, Oklahoma on November 10, 2023. She was born on September 12, 1951 in Antlers, Oklahoma to Dan and Nadine (Standridge) Brown, and spent her childhood being raised in Finley, Oklahoma.
Vickie served as secretary for the FSA before her retirement. However, it was her personal life that brought her immense joy. She loved her animals, reading, solving puzzles, and watching old detective shows. Her adventurous side found joy in trying out new restaurants and different kinds of food.
Vickie spent the majority of her adult life in Tucumcari, providing loving care for her beloved aunt and uncle. After moving back to the Finley/ Antlers area in 2016, she enjoyed exploring new places with her sister, their trips often filled with shared laughter, enjoyable shopping, delightful meals, and memorable moments together. Her quick wit, beautiful smile, huge heart, and sweet soul brought joy to all those blessed to know her. Her strength and bravery were evident in her battle with cancer, which she fought with unwavering courage for years.
Vickie Sue Brown will be remembered not just for being loving, kind, and courageous, but also for the joy she brought into the lives of those around her. Hers was a life well-lived, steeped in love, and filled with wonderful memories. She will be missed dearly by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Vickie was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Dan and Nadine Brown, her uncle Hugh Cooper, aunt Teenie Cooper, sisters Dora Mae Brown and Marcia Ann Brown, and brother Donald Ray Brown.
Vickie leaves behind to cherish her memory: sisters: Saundra Cagle and her husband Waylon Cagle, and Melinda Brown; brothers: Malvin Brown and wife Paula, and John Brown; nephews: Dustin Morehead and his wife Heather, and Taylor Morehead; and nieces: Jaidyn Morehead, Meredith and Chris Brannon, and Kimber Morehead.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 10AM at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel with Edwin Findley officiating. Inurnment will follow at Finley Cemetery.
Cremation and memorial services have been entrusted with Serenity Funeral Service of Antlers, Oklahoma.
