Virgil Reich Obituary

Virgil D. Reich, 87, passed from this life on June 26, 2022 in McAlester, Oklahoma. He was born on May 14, 1935 in Cloudy, Oklahoma to Ples and Ada Idell (Rogers) Reich. He married Margaret "Peggy" Davis on July 29, 1957 in Syracuse, IN.

Virgil proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, in which he completed one tour of duty in Vietnam and was stationed in multiple locations overseas. He especially enjoyed his time as an Air Force recruiter where he received multiple awards including Air Force Recruiter of the Year and retired with a rank of Master Sergeant. He was a spiritual man of Christian faith who enjoyed his family above all else.

Virgil was an avid outdoorsman with a love for hunting and fishing, was a member of the Kiamichi Fox and Wolf Hunters Association, and greatly enjoyed listening to the dogs run. He also had a great love of adventure and road trips with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Ples and Idell Reich; sister: Georgia Wooldridge; brother: Elmer Reich; and granddaughter: Jessica Reich.

Virgil is survived by his wife Peggy Reich of Antlers, OK; children: Pamela Reich of Antlers, OK, Alan Reich and wife Anita of Antlers, OK, Lynette Reich of Antlers, OK, Andy Reich and Gena Belcher of Antlers, OK, and Sabra Reich and Mike Selim of Oldsmar, FL; special family friends: Dawn Roberts and Jon Jackson; grandchildren: Brent Reich and wife Sasha, Andrea Sanderson and husband Derek, Katy Campbell, and Drew Reich; great-grandchildren: Evan Wheeler, Addie Campbell, and River Sanderson; nephew: Tut Davis; brothers: Walter Reich of Rigby, ID and Norman Reich of Antlers, OK; sister: Janace Reich Isbell of Bastrop, TX; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A friends and family night will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 6-8PM at Serenity Funeral Service. A celebration of life will take place on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 10:30AM in the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel with Jim Gentry officiating. Honors to be provided by the United States Air Force. Interment to follow at Antlers City Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Tony Walls, Wade Graham, Tut Davis, Todd Scott, Ashley Harmon, and Dale Smith. Honorary pallbearers include: Robert Rodenburger, Del Davis, Dicky Kidd, Robert Songer, Raymond Lankford, Terry Dean Miller, and Ian Wheeler.

Services are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Service of Antlers.
